This Dunkin Donuts commercial is something that the rest of the country probably chuckled about when they watched SNL last night. In Massachusetts though, this will be talked about for the next year or two. Know why? Because that dude is not a stereotype. Donny is a real person that everyone in Massachusetts knows. This skit had none of the typical SNL exaggeration of a character because we all know Donny and we know that Donny is exactly like that. We know that Donny pulls the clever move of smoking a Parliament with his hand outside the door (that move should be should be clear with the Board of Health), we know that Donny is still rocking an iPhone 4 with a screen that would mutilate the fingers of anyone who’s hands haven’t been calloused from years of blue collar work, and we all know that every single Donny out there hums that hot coffee right off the windshield of that pretentious douchebag. Donny exists, and last night, the Affleck brother who isn’t running around Gotham City, brought Donny to the world. Thanks Casey, earning your place in the top 25 best Boston actors.
While I’m talking SNL, shout out to Kate Mckinnon for continuing to be the best cast member SNL has had since Amy Poehler. This skit was funny as fuck and the term “hog taker and log maker” is low key genius.
