I’ve never been secretive about my mixed feelings on Jimmy Fallon. He provides mindless entertainment and is successful doing it.
This video pretty much perfectly sums up my contention with Jimmy Fallon. It’s funny. I gave a chuckle when Quest Love picked up his symbols and was ready to leave. I thought it was funny when Jimmy called Barack a nerdy version of Jay Z. These things were chuckle worthy comedy.
But at the same time, it was so painful to watch. The fact that he’s doing Thank You Notes, his Friday staple, on a Tuesday is a soft move. His guests shouldn’t disrupt the rhythm of his show no matter how quasi important they are. If Michelle wanted to do Thank You Notes that badly, she should be showing up on a Friday. That’s the bottom line. Jimmy also wrote every one of his thank you notes to Michelle. That’s just such obvious kiss ass pandering that it’s gross to watch.
So while this little bit was kind of funny, I would have much rather seen Steven Colbert with Michelle getting deep like he did last week and asking some tough questions. I’m not looking for a late night host who is going to flex his journalist muscles on the first lady and ask her some hard hitting questions, there are enough wana be journalists over at Buzzfeed. I just want someone that is willing to be intelligent in addition to being funny and I think that if Steven Colbert got this interview with the future former first lady then he would get much more substance out of such an influential figure.
P.S. Michelle already explicitly put an end to the rumors of her running for office. Jimmy and the rest of the world need to stop teasing Michelle 2020.
I do like her WAY more than Hillary though and if she did change her mind, she would probably get my vote… Actually Jimmy and the rest of the world, tease away, she might give into the pressure.
