Steven Colbert before this interview: *hits bong* *walks confidently on stage*
I don’t know that I have ever seen an episode of late night TV that was more sobering than Steven Colbert talking about his inability to fully love another human being. That being said, I refuse to accept that either one of these gentlemen were sober when they conducted the interview. Two sober men do not talk about how lonely they are. They don’t tell the other man that no one, not even their family, knows the full truth about them.
Not everything in life is a silly game (shade at Jimmy Fallon), so I appreciate Steven keeping it real and having a deep conversation every once in a while, even if it was marijuana induced.
