Well done by these two. I really wasn’t planning on giving out a “Best Marketing Campaign Award” again this week, but after the show these two have been putting on across the world I might be obligated to put it up for grabs again. First insulting each other over in the UK and then J Law committing a minor felony with the less popular Jimmy (I’m really back on team Fallon) in LA, I am impressed.
Lets talk about the insults for a minute (there hasn’t been a good one of these since Mark Walberg and Will Farrell, everyone else has pulled their punches way too much). Chris Pratt won in the first volley of insults. Jenn pulls a dirty move right off the bat, bringing his wife into the mix and he responds with, “Why did they call it Joy?”. I don’t care what happened next, I stopped paying attention, Chris Pratt one punch KO. He out classed and insulted her with such ease. I like J Law, I was calling her J Law before the world caught on, but bringing someone’s family into an insult is really off limits in all capacities. That’s just rules of engagement when you are in a verbal battle. And then to get blasted with such a strong, simple line. You’re done. No one has been KO’d that fast since Ray Rice didn’t feel like taking the stairs.
Pratt also won the Kimmel bit. There were a shit ton of pictures where Chris had cropped her out or had her facing the wrong way. He was playing a long game that she just couldn’t compete with on a four minute Kimmel clip.
I introduced the BMCA (Best Marketing Campaign Award) in last week’s Weekend Movie Watchlist because of the legendary move T.J. Miller pulled, getting arrested to promote his movie. I figured there would be a long time before I broke this one out again but there is nothing like a friendly celebrity rivalry to peak my interest. I understand why these two have been competing so hard for the BMCA. It doesn’t take a psychic to see what is going to happen on this week’s Watchlist, so these two are going to try and take any low hanging award that they can grab before Rogue One comes in and cleans house.
I’m not saying for sure that the BMCA is back on the table for this week. I would like to see these two come out with something else before the week is done to truly earn that back to back presentation of such a prestigious award. Either way, this week’s Weekend Movie Watchlist is going to be interesting.
